Success With EB-TY - Inventor Wins Award
AP Newswire 1999

Califon, New Jersey, USAThe Journal of Light Construction has awarded Harry Eberle the 1998 Construction Innovation Award for his EB-TY® Hidden Deck-Fastening SystemTM.

The black polypropylene fastener simply hooks into slots at the edge of the deck boards where they cross a joist. The process assures that the boards will be more evenly spaced thus eliminating drainage problems.

The need for such a product became evident to Eberle while building a deck of Brazilian hardwood. Nails could not penetrate the wood, yet the customer wanted no visible fasteners to be used.

According to Eberle, EB-TY will not rust or shrink. Even at temperatures over 200 degrees F, EB-TY will neither crack nor soften. Given its approximated life span of 100 years, the fastener saves the homeowner money on deck repair.

The popularity of the system is growing and was recently featured on the Learning Channel's "Men In Tool Belts" show where its efficiency and durability was demonstrated.

What appeals most to the aesthetically-minded customer is that, even in raised decks, EB-TY appears invisible due to its placement.

Eberle Builders, Incorporated is based in Califon, New Jersey. Eberle's main business is building homes, although he also does additions and renovations to existing homes.
